     Damian Blättler is Assistant Professor of Music Theory at Rice University in Houston, Texas.  His primary research interest is in the expanded tonal practices of the 20th and 21st centuries, and includes projects on the importance of chord voicing in additive harmony, 20th-century theories of chord structure, the structural use of the octatonic in the music of Ravel, and the music of Louis Andriessen.
