Julian Bennett Holmes is a composer and theorist from New York City. As an undergraduate, he studied composition at Mannes College with Lowell Liebermann, and theory with Robert Cuckson. As a graduate student at the Manhattan School of Music, he studies with Richard Danielpour. His work as a theorist focuses on interval theory, chant and organum, and modal theory. He has received awards including the second prize at the Seventh International Antonín Dvořák Composition Competition, the Bohuslav Martinů Orchestral Composition Prize (presented by Mannes College), and others.
