     Stephen Brown is Professor of Music Theory at Northern Arizona University, where he serves as Coordinator of Theory and Composition. Steve has done research in the theory and analysis of post-tonal music, with a focus on the music of Shostakovich. His articles have appeared in the Journal of Music Theory, Music Theory Spectrum, and Music Analysis, among other journals. Steve has served on the editorial board of Music Theory Online and as president of the Rocky Mountain Society for Music Theory. Currently he serves on the editorial board of SMT-V, the podcast journal of the Society for Music Theory.
