Sommaire

Oliver is in the second year of a College Research Scholarship-supported Ph.D., supervised by Professor J. P. E. Harper-Scott. He is writing an analysis-based thesis, on Edward Elgar's music, focusing expressly on the interface between Elgarian symphonic narrative, and the formal devices found in the burgeoning English tradition of early-twentieth-century science fiction literature. Oliver maintains a parallel career as a classical guitarist. He was awarded the Montagu Cleeve Guitar Prize by Trinity Laban in 2015 and was sponsored for the duration of his taught-postgraduate study at conservatoire by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.
