     Robert Cogan, author of the books Sonic Design: The Nature of Sound and Music (with Pozzi Escot), (tr. into Japanese and Portuguese); New Images of Musical Sound (Harvard University Press); Music Seen, Music Heard; and The Sounds of Song. His works have been performed and broadcast worldwide including by the League of Composers (U.S.), the Museum of Modern Art (N.Y.C.), North German Radio (and other German regional radios): performed by Leopold Stokowski, Jacques-Louis Monod and Gunther Schuller (conductors); Jan de Gaetani, Joan Heller and Elizabeth Keusch (singers); and numerous instrumentalists. A leader of Departments of Theory and Composition at New England Conservatory, where he has taught for more than five decades, he has been Guest Professor at the Berkshire Music Center (Tanglewood), Central Conservatory (Beijing), the Shanghai Conservatory, and IBM Research.
