     Researcher/performer Ben Duinker currently pursues a PhD in music theory under the supervision of Nicole Biamonte at McGill University, where his research focuses on metric and rhythmic concerns that inhere the construction, performance, and perception of flow (rapped vocals) in hip-hop music. Other research interests include empirical musicology, analysis and performance, renaissance vocal polyphony, and music since 1950. Duinker’s academic work has earned him scholarships from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the Fonds de recherché du Québec - Société et culture (FRQSC). Since 2012, Duinker has been a member of the quartet Architek Percussion, having toured and recorded extensively with them and premiered over 40 new compositions and arrangements.
