     David Larkin is a Senior Lecturer in Musicology at the University of Sydney. His research primarily focusses on the music of Liszt, Wagner, and Richard Strauss, and he has articles in 19th-Century Music, Music and the Moving Image, The Cambridge Companion to Richard Strauss and The Musical Quarterly. His work encompasses both analytical and cultural-historical perspectives, and a current research interest is on the notion of progress as both political and music-technical category. He regularly reviews concerts for Bachtrack and the Australian Book Review, and gives pre-concert talks at the Sydney Opera House and other venues.
