     Massimiliano Locanto is associate professor in History of Music at the University of Salerno. In 2003 he earned a PhD. in Musical Philology, with a dissertation on Igor Stravinsky's serial compositions. Since 2014 he taughts several courses in the 1st level Master in Music Theory and Analysis of the Università degli Studi della Calabria. His research interests and publications are in two distinct areas: the history of medieval monody — Gregorian chant, liturgical tropes – and twentieth-century music, with a particular focus on the music of Igor Stravinsky and on the relationship between music theories, compositional techniques, and scientific thought.
