Sommaire

Matteo Magarotto studied music in Italy, the UK, and the USA. He holds a PhD in Musicology with a cognate in Music Theory from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. His dissertation combines Hepokoski and Darcy’s Sonata Theory with Gjerdingen’s theory of musical schemata in a detailed analytical study of Mozart’s keyboard sonatas, first movements. Magarotto has presented related research on Mozart at meetings of the American Musicological Society’s Midwest Chapter and the Society for Eighteenth-Century Music, and he has recently published an article on “Nonlinear Temporality in Mozart’s Instrumental Music” (Music Research Forum). In addition to Mozart and music analysis, Magarotto is interested in aesthetics, popular music, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
