Sommaire

     Veijo Murtomäki (b. 1954), Professor of Music History at the Sibelius Academy of the Helsinki University of Arts, has published monographies Symphonic Unity. The development of formal thinking in the Symphonies of Sibelius (1993), and Jean Sibelius ja isänmaa [Jean Sibelius and Fatherland] (2007). He is coeditor of the anthologies Sibelius Forum (1998), Sibelius Studies (2001), Sibelius Forum II (2003), Sibelius in the Old and New World (2010), and two other Sibelius conference (2010, 2015) books in progress. He has written also on the political orientation of Sibelius, form and expression in the Classical-Romantic music, and on canons of the music history, most recently the article “Bohemian composers side-tracked in the musical historiography of the ‘Viennese Classicism’ “ (Ashgate, 2015).
