Gabriel holds a Master’s degree in guitar performance and a Ph.D. in music theory, both from the University of Arizona. His research focuses primarily on musical form, tonal harmony, and the music of Franz Schubert. His current work is devoted to the harmonic analysis of popular music and to the formal analysis of some Latin American genres. Gabriel has served on the faculty of Universidade Federal de Uberlândia and, since 2014, is an assistant professor of music theory and guitar at the Universidade Federal da Integração Latino-Americana in Brazil.
