     Zdeněk Skoumal is a Canadian music theorist that specializes in nineteenth- and twentieth-century music, Schenkerian analysis, and text/music relationships, with particular attention to the music of Leoš Janáček. He has published articles on the music of Janáček and Liszt and is currently completing a book on the musical language of Janáček. He studied at the University of British Columbia and City University of New York and teaches at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Langley, British Columbia.
