Studied history and theory of music at the Conservatoire of Nizhny Novgorod (Russia), undergone postgraduate studies at State Institute of Arts Studies, Old Russian Art department, Moscow (Russia). Main research fields are musical culture of Eastern Slavs up to 1800, writings on music in 16th-18th with focus on Russia, Russian-European musical contacts in 17th-18th centuries. Authored articles for Grove Music Online, Pravoslavnaja Entsiklopedija (Orthodox Encyclopedia, in Russian).
