     Gabriel Venegas is Ph.D. candidate at the University of Arizona (UA), Lehrbeauftragter at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (JGU-HfM), and newly appointed assistant professor at the University of Costa Rica (UCR). He holds undergraduate degrees in piano performance (UCR: 2006 and 2009) and a master’s degree in music theory (UA: 2013). He has presented his research at professional conferences in the U.S., Europe, and South America, including the annual conferences of the German Music-Theory Society (2013, 2015, and 2016) and the Dutch-Flemish Society for Music Theory (2012), and the Biennial Conference of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (2015 and 2017). His current research interests involve analytical/theoretical approaches to tonal music, 19th-century sonata form, and music philology.
