     Born in 1968 in Neuchâtel (Switzerland), Andrew Wilson is currently working as a scientific collaborator at the Musicology Department of the University of Basel. After initial studies in computer sciences at the University of Neuchâtel and training as a classical and jazz pianist, he has worked as an English teacher and translator. In October 2012, he received a Master of Arts in Musicology and in English/American literature and linguistics at the University of Basel, with honours (insigni cum laude). Since then, Andrew Wilson has been researching his PhD topic ‘Concepts of improvisation and their impact on early twentieth century art music’. In April 2014, this project was officially accepted as a research program at the Department of Musicology of the University of Basel and is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.
